And so, what should be done to increase the body’s resistance to everything that contributes to the development of asthenic negative emotions and neurosis – the highest degrees of stress, dangerous to health, stress? The degree of tension, as we have said, primarily depends on the complexity of the task facing the person. Another thing is also known: the same task of some people activates, mobilizes, others – demobilizes and oppresses.

“So a heavy glove, breaking glass, forges damask steel,” said the poet. A person also hardens or bends, breaks under the weight of certain circumstances. Why does it depend?

Some people are convinced that the differences mentioned in the reactions of the organism are predetermined by its genetic characteristics. This is only partially true. The genetic code is just a design for the future building. With the best design, the building can collapse a month after construction and, conversely, be durable, even if the project was built not at first-class.

The genetic code is embodied in the structure of the body in the process of individual development, starting from the moment of fertilization of the egg and lasting a lifetime. The future reactions of the organism, the likelihood of the development of various degrees of stress, largely depend on what this process will be. This is evidenced by the experience conducted by I.P. Pavlov. Puppies of the same litter were divided into two groups. Some grew up in truly greenhouse conditions: in separate rooms, on everything ready. The second group of puppies lived in an aviary with adult dogs. They had to take each crust of bread and a sip of soup from the battlefield, defending themselves against other, sometimes very aggressive animals.

Months have passed. Dogs raised in greenhouse conditions have a weak type of higher nervous activity. The slightest difficulty, the more or less complicated situation, turned out to be insurmountable for them, caused a breakdown, stress. In dogs that grew in an aviary, the nervous system was strong, mobile, balanced, they easily coped with tasks that turned out to be overwhelming for their brethren.

In this regard, it is interesting to note that back in the first half of the last century, the famous German physician Christopher Gufeland in his book Macrobiotics, or the Art of Extending Human Life, wrote that parents often harm children by eliminating anything that might cause them to exert effort, strain, get tired. Thus, they educate the weak, because there is no strength without exercise. The simplicity and rigor of education is the basis of longevity, he emphasized.

It is clear that we do not call for excessive rigor in education, for deliberate piling up of difficulties and obstacles. For proper development, the child, of course, needs positive emotions, a wide variety of contacts with adults, love, care, affection … We must not forget that it is in communication with adults that moral values, attitudes of the future personality are formed, the mental structure and character are determined relationships with others, that is, everything on which depends not only behavior, but also human health. At the same time, it is necessary to encourage independence, initiative, not to impede search activities, attempts to actively learn about the world, to promote the development of gaming and work skills, dexterity, courage, and self-confidence. Only a person who can overcome difficulties and stress, able to understand and accept new things can be healthy.

Skill, skills, life experience — in short, that’s all. what is stored in the memory in the process of cognition of the world, subsequently plays a very important role.

Having gone into the subconscious, our life experience practically forms the body’s ability, if necessary, to instantly respond with adequate mobilization of its resources, which is reflected in the rise of physical and spiritual forces, concentration, concentration. It is no coincidence that such highly beneficial reactions (CH-1) are characteristic mainly for people with a strong, balanced nervous system, and these are mainly those who grew up in conditions that train and temper the nervous system.

But a person with a weak type of nervous activity (as a rule, he grew caressed and shielded from difficulties) responds to almost any difficult situation with a kind of passive-defensive reaction, a decrease in activity, he quickly stops trying to solve the difficult task before him. And this is a harbinger of stress. It is people with a weak type of higher nervous Activity that are more stressed.

Thus, the nature of the body’s reaction in certain situations largely depends on the acquired, life-formed skills. Recall that, according to the formula for the state of stress, life experience is an integral part of the information that is necessary to solve certain problems and problems. However, the information resources stored by the nervous system are not limited to this. The wealth of the inner world, the breadth of worldview, the depth of culture and knowledge – all this increases the possibilities of man, instills confidence in himself in him.
